How to Adjust Your Body Double
0 comments
Meet Betty. She’s my trusty adjustable body double. As you can see, I’ve make some alterations since I took her out to the box. I’m assuming most woman are different than an “out-of-the-box” form, so I want to share how I made the alterations.
First I adjusted the dials to sit my rib, waist and hip measurements. If you have a form like mine, you can measure your body in sections to get a better match (e.i. just the front half of your waist, then the back half).

Next I made “pillows” to further adjust Betty. For the chest I made these long goofy oval shape. This helped to create a smoother slope.
I cut two of each of these pieces (mirrors of each other). As I sewed the sides together, I simply pleated the bottom edge (along the triangle sections) to create a 3D shape.
Once the pieces were together, I turned the pillow form right-side out and stuffed it with fluff. I did not sew close the opening. This way I can adjust it later if needed. I then pinned the pillow right to Betty.
Next I made the shoulders wider. I cut 4 oval shapes and 2 side strips.
Using a 1/4″ seam, I sewed the side strip to the oval pieces. You want the widest part of the strip to line up with the center of the top part of the oval.
When each side was finished being sew together, I turned right-side out and stuffed with fluff. I closed the pillows by hand. I then pinned it in place.
And we’re done!! Betty looks much more like me.
