About the site:
I Heart Jenny’s Art is my blog about all things creative. I really wanted a place where I could keep track of my projects, share my work and maybe give a pointer or two. So with the help of my ever trusty webmaster Martz, my blog was born.
My goal with this blog is to post at least once a week. But don’t hold me to that. I’ve gotten worse about posting on time the longer I run the site.
So, my name is Jenny. I’m 25 years old and live in DC. Although I’m an engineer by profession, I’m an artist and crafter at heart. I’m a sewer, quilter, designer, screen printer, painter and doodler. I’ve done pottery, wood burning, glass etching, screen printing, beading and cross stitching. To put it simply: I collect hobbies.
Over the years I’ve tried many different mediums to express myself and each one taught me something. But the two I love the most are sewing and acrylic painting. I love sewing because of its construction and puzzle like nature. I think it’s really neat how you can take a 2D piece of fabric and turn it into a moving, structured work of art that hugs the body. I also love that you can take 100 different pieces of fabric and piece them together to make a beautiful mosaic-like quilt.
I love painting because it’s a very freeform and bold form of art. Even though there are techniques and skills you can learn, I feel like you can do whatever you want when you are painting. No one can tell you that you are doing it wrong, because it’s your painting. And that kind of control is a beautiful thing.
